Output: Gundam RX-78-2I chose the Gundam model rx-78-2 for my hard-surface modelling project. Gundam RX-78-2 is also a meta-Gundam with a simpler body structure and weapons, and is worth a try. The modelling is divided into several sections, with a head, arms, legs, chest, waist and engine section.

Head:

front
back

The head is a face that extruded from the scaled faces of the front of the reference image. Extrude and scale are repeated over and over to create the rounded shape of the Gundam's head. Some of the accessories and decorations on the head are transformed by cube objects.

Chest and Waist (body):

front
back
side

The body of the Gundam is mostly made up of rectangular and cylindrical shapes, with the corners being cut off later by loop cuts. Some details on the body, such as the grooves, were extruded by knife-cutting the faces inwards. Most of the details are transformed into different forms using extrude and inset to transform their surfaces.

Arm and Leg:

front

back side

The arms and legs are transformed using rectangles. The joints are made from a combination of squares and cylindrical shapes. The corners are cut into an irregular octagonal shape using the same loop cut. The hand uses extrude faces and scale to adjust its shape and cannot form a mechanical joint. The feet are transformed using rectangles, while the extrude is detailed for the legs and feet.

Backpack (engine):

The back block is made by combining the back of the chest and waist together and then extrude outwards. The details are then extruded and scaled separately on the different faces. The engine's jet barrel and scabbard are made of cone-shaped and cylindrical deformations. The lower part of the scabbard is scaled with a square object.

Final output:

For the final output, lights are added on the Gundam's head and eyes by using emission textures.
