3D Modeling: Exercise 1
Exercise 1: Modeling from primitives objects
Class activity: Snowman
My first assignment in 3D modelling class consisted of constructing a snowman by mixing numerous forms using the blender mesh tools. The snowman is composed of a cylinder, a cone, a torus, an ultraviolet sphere, and a plane. The primary component of the snowman's body consists of two UV spheres. The snowman's hat is created using a combination of cylinder and torus. Two additional cylinders are scaled down to create the wooden hand of the creature. The eyes and buttons of a snowman are composed of scaled uv spheres, while its nose is a mesh cone. Lastly, a ground plane is added beneath the snowman in order to experiment with the blender shadow capabilities. In this lesson, we also learnt how to use material to impart colour to the surface of mesh objects.
Exercise: Kirby
I built a Kirby as an exercise after learning how to merge basic mesh objects in blender. To create this Kirby, I utilised cylinders, a UV sphere, and a torus. It was then coloured by putting various materials on the object. The most difficult element of the entire project for me was the mouth. I utilised torus items to make the cuts that gave the mouth its curvature. To begin, I entered edit mode, clipped the torus into a half circle, and then scaled the curves to the appropriate size.
